Adriatic Marinas, Peter Munk’s company which is building a nautical-tourism resort Porto Montenegro in Tivat, has contributed to the towns’ development by providing free wireless access to its citizens. The value of the donation is estimated to be EUR 45,000.
The intention is to provide access to additional information and improve education possibilities for the citizens of Tivat and to contribute to the overall improvement of the tourism and business climate in Tivat.
The new wireless network will also be known as Porto Montenegro and it will allow broadband access to users with notebook computers supporting WiFi technology and if they are used within the area covered by one of the base-stations. The range of one base station is 100 meters for notebook computers and up to 300 meters for users who have external USB wireless cards.
During the first phase of network development, five base-stations have been activated, covering the area of Tivat’s immediate downtown core.
According to the plan, once Porto Montenegro becomes fully operational, it will consist of 16 base-stations which will cover almost the entire Tivat municipality with their signal.
