The management of Montenegro Airlines is expected to sign a contract for the purchase of a new Embraer 195 jet. Montenegro Airlines’ president Zoran Durisic announced a possibility of buying another Embraer in 2010. Unlike the previous two, which have been rented for eight years, the third Embraer, worth around USD 31 million, will be purchased, reports Montenegrin daily Vijesti.
Durisic claims that the purchase of new planes of the renowned company Embraer is one of the most important moments in the development of the company, which is the air bridge between Montenegro and Europe and the world. The purchase of the jet will be financied by a credit from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
In the first eight months of this year Montenegro Airlines transported 345.000 passengers which is a 7 per cent more compared to last year. The airline’s management expects that this year it will transport half a million passengers. The total number of flights in the first 8 months was increased by 17%, thanks to new lines to Paris, Moscow and London. The overall cabin occupancy rate rose by 2 per cent to 68 per cent.
