Montenegro Airlines will launch regular flights between Montenegro’s capital Podgorica and the city of Nis in southern Serbia.
The citizens of Nis will be able to reach via Podgorica all other destinations that Montenegro Airlines flies to, Zoran Djurisic, the national carrier’s general manager said.
Montenegro Airlines currently connects Montenegro's capital to a dozen cities in Western Europe and Moscow, as well as cities in the region including Skopje, Belgrade, Pristina and Ljubljana.
Montenegro Airlines plans to open a daughter company in Nis, according to Djurisic.
Milos Simonovic, Nis’ mayor, also expressed his support for the new flight route. He said that for years, attempts have been made to renew the activities of Constantine the Great Airport in Nis.
