Montenegro Tourism Organisation is increasing its support for travel agents in the UK by opening a London office and setting up an e-learning programme.
Kirsi Hyvarinen, a senior adviser for the Montenegro National Tourism Organisation, said the London office will open at the end of the year and provide support to both the trade and the public, Travel Trade Gazette reports.
An e-learning programme will be launched online early next year, informing agents about Montenegro’s history, culture and natural environment. Agents will be tested on the course material and receive a certificate upon completion.
These developments coincide with a refocusing of Montenegro’s marketing on more niche markets, such as hiking and biking. The Balkan state boasts 4,000 miles of trails across the country.
The UK office will be run in conjunction with Montenegrin national airline. There are currently three direct services to Montenegro from Gatwick a week, operated by Montenegro Airlines. Dubrovnik, in neighbouring Croatia, also provides a convenient point of entry to Montenegro and is served by no-frills carriers.
