Tivat is a modern and pretty town in the central part of the Kotor Bay. The town is abundant in green areas and boasts one of the most beautiful parks on the Adriatic. The origins of the town date back to the 3rd century BC and buildings in the old town reflect its medieval past.
With 240 days of sunshine over the year, Tivat is one of the sunniest places in the Adriatic. There are seventeen beaches along the Tivat Riviera and one of the most beautiful is located at Plavi Horizonti. The nearby islands of Prevlaka and Sveti Marko are popular tourist spots and there is a regular boat service to both islands.
International airport is only 5 km away and Tivat is set to attract more UK visitors as the first direct flights from Gatwick started in June 2008.
Porto Montenegro, Peter Munk’s £200 million project backed by international investors will transform town’s old military shipyard into a marina for the mega yachts of the rich and famous. It will offer moorings for up to 800 yachts as well as repair yards, hotels, restaurants and shops. The international hotel group Four Seasons is building its first Mediterranean resort, to open in 2010.
