Podgorica is the official commercial and cultural centre of Montenegro. It is a modern bustling town with a good choice of restaurants, street cafes and clubs along the city centre promenade.

The city is ideally situated only a short drive from both seaside resorts on the Adriatic and winter ski centres in the north. Nearby is Skadar Lake, a heaven for bird watchers and nature lovers. The city’s museums and galleries display exhibits showcasing the rich culture and heritage dating from its ancient past to modern times.

Podgorica hosts a number of events throughout the year such as Cultural Summer of Podgorica with theatre plays, concerts and exhibitions, international marathon, diving competition at Moraca and an international fishing competition at nearby Skadar Lake.
