Budva is a pretty coastal town and the centre of tourism in Montenegro. The Budva Riviera stretches for almost 23 miles, and with nearly 8 miles of golden sandy beaches and numerous bays it is a favourite destination for sun worshiping tourists who flock here every year.
The Old Town with its rich architecture and historical monuments lies on a small peninsula and dates back to ancient times. Although it was badly damaged by an earthquake in 1979, it was meticulously restored and its narrow streets and alleys still maintain the medieval ambience.
Budva also has a vibrant nightlife with numerous cafes, bars, restaurants and open air clubs along the main promenade. It was at the nearby Jaz Beach that Rolling Stones and Madonna played on their most recent tours.
